When we remember God mentally, we do so with the awareness that He must be very far away, even though we feel Him close by. This is what is called having yoga with God: union.
POINTS FROM MATESHWARI: Remembrance implies someone who remembers and another who is remembered. The one who remembers is definitely separate from the one who is remembered. Therefore, this means that God is not omnipresent.
“If I, the Father—He who is beyond happiness and sorrow—were omnipresent, there would be neither happiness nor sorrow in this play (life).”
Although many religious traditions have led us to believe that God is everywhere, this is because, when we have an intense mental connection with Him, we are fortunate enough to feel Him very close; yet this attribute of God relates not to a multiplication of the presence, but to His great capacity to make us feel His vitalizing energy—an energy that reaches those who invoke Him mentally.
If God were present everywhere… it would mean that everything is God, including us… consequently, there would be no room for sorrow in this world, nor for happiness—everything would be very flat, emotionally speaking. But as we can see… the world we inhabit is one where duality is present everywhere; indeed, one might say that sorrow is more omnipresent than ever in these times, punctuated by only brief touches of happiness.
