Contemplating the flame dancing on the wick of a candle, I feel as if hypnotized by its sinuous movements and its brilliance, putting me in a good state to meditate. The same thing happens when observing the flames of a log burning in the fireplace, and, I wonder…, what is it about flames that attract us and bring us together around a campfire? Is it an ancestral bond?, the difference between surviving or succumbing in the middle of a hostile environment?, a memory, in the subconscious and beyond, of the time, that we experienced in other lives, where we came from a cataclysm, of a sudden change in the state of nature? I have felt the tremor that a drop in temperature causes in my body in very difficult moments…, and being able to warm up in front of a fire…, is something that is appreciated. Perhaps this has been “burned” so deeply into us that we don’t know that it was an experience lived in ancient times.
